“Like love, chocolate is always a delight to receive or to give”-MARY JANE FINSAND.
There is an apt saying called everything is fair in love, war and chocolate.
There are few foods that I feel passionate about -- a passion that goes beyond
a love for the "sweetness" of most desserts: Chocolate is, well,
different. For the true chocoholic, just thinking about chocolate can evoke a
pleasurable response. From being one of the most popular flavours in the world
, chocolate surely is sinful in the truest sense! Rightly termed as the wonder
ingredient, who knew that the discovery of an ordinary bean from the tree
Theobroma cacao found in the jungles of South and Central America would become
a hot favourite of all ages around the world.
Dark chocolates are very popular among health conscious people as it is rich in flavonoids and antioxidants free radicals.Antioxidants are considered to slow down the
ageing process, as it helps to free your body from Chocolates are also helpful to keep you in a happy mood,
as it produces the same chemicals (phenylethylamine) which your brain creates
when you feels that you are falling in love. This is one of the reasons why so
many women love chocolate - it really is a mood elevator.
This recipe of mine “CHOCOLATE KHEER” or “CHOCOLATE
RICE PUDDING”is a rendition of classic Indian dessert- Rice kheer. There is no better ingredient than chocolate
when you want to have a different flavor in your rice pudding. The chocolate
flavor achieved by adding chocolate chips complements its smooth texture.
To make Chocolate Kheer we need :
Ingredients
- 500ml Milk + 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp Basmati rice
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- Cashews for garnishing
- ½ cup Dark Chocolate
- Chocolate Shavings for
garnishing
Steps
- Heat 500ml milk in a deep non stick pan. Add rice and cook till completely soft. Stir continuously till milk is reduced. For the detailed process on how to make kheer , you can follow my link :http://www.culinaryxpress.com/2014/09/rice-kheer-recipe.html.This process may take around 20-25 minutes. If you have less time in your hand, u can use the cooked rice to prepare instant Kheer.
- Once rice is fully cooked add sugar and mix well. U can check for the sweetness, if you feel u need more sugar u can add more as per your taste and preference.
- Keep a bowl of dark chocolate in microwave and melt for 1 minute stirring at an interval of 30 seconds. Once the chocolate melts add the remaining ½ cup milk and form chocolate sauce. Alternatively you can put the chocolate on a bowl and melt on a double boiler till the chocolate melts and then add the milk to form a chocolate sauce.
- Pour a little of this chocolate sauce into each serving glass.Pour the kheer and garnish with chocolate shavings and cashew.
