RAW BANANA TIKKI( Kancha Kadali Tikki)
I usually prefer to prepare tikkis over the deep fried pakoras as they are low fat . The options for Tikkis are endless. you can create your own Tikkis by adding the ingredients of your choice. Basically you need a base and a binding agent to prepare cutlets. The options with raw banana are limited, I usually end up preparing a fry of this vegetable or use in dalma on rare occasions. As the raw bananas are bland in taste, make sure you added enough spices and herbs to make it spicy and aromatic. These tikkis make a nice starter in parties . I had prepared a raw banana Kofta curry which I would post soon and I thought that I would share a separate post for preparing these Tikkis.
Ingredients:
4 raw banana
2 green chillies
1 inch ginger finely
chopped
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp chat masala
1 sprig coriander
leaves
2 to 3 tablespoon
refined cooking oil
1 tbsp gram flour(besan)
salt to taste
Method:
Wash the raw bananas and Pressure-cook them with water till 2 whistles. Remove from heat and allow them to cool.
Then peel the skin of the bananas and mash them well.
Now add chopped green chillies, chilli powder, coriander leaves, cumin powder,Chat masala and salt to taste. Mix them well to get dough- like consistency.
Then heat the cooking oil on a non-stick pan. Make flat tikkis and roll them in gram flour . dust off excess gram flour.
Shallow-fry them on the non-stick pan on both sides on low heat till both sides turn dark brown . Serve hot.
