A smoothie is
a blended sweetened beverage made
from fresh fruit, vegetables and, in special cases, Chocolate or peanut butter. In addition to
fruit, many smoothies include crushed ice, frozen fruit, honey or
contain syrup and ice ingredients.
Healthy,
convenient and portable, smoothies are ideal fuel-on-the-go for breakfast, an
afternoon snack or dessert. Smoothies provide important protein, vitamins and
minerals from ingredients like tofu, yogurt and fruit. It may seem like a crazy diet fad, but honestly once you try a
green smoothie, you’ll most likely become insanely addicted. And there is
nothing better than downing 2 cups of green leaves in a day in a delightful
fashion. And if you want to get all scientific, dark leafy greens contain:
high-quality amino acids, important minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and
beneficial phytonutrients.

The kiwifruit, native to northern China, was first brought to and cultivated in New Zealand at the turn of the 20th century and was then known as the Chinese Gooseberry. When the time came to export the fruit, to avoid the high duties charged on berries, the name was changed to the kiwifruit, or kiwi because of the fruits shared characteristics with New Zealand's national symbol, the kiwi bird, which is also small, brown and fuzzy. Kiwi fruit is considered to be an exotic fruit. It is one of the most anti-oxidant rich fruits, and offers various health benefits. Along with high amount of Vitamin C and dietary fiber, it also contains potassium, lutein (a vision protecting carotenoid), minerals and other essential nutrients. Kiwi is the most popular item in the grocery and it is used in fruit salads, cakes and all type of desserts.
